Enhancing Lab communication and collaboration in a laboratory

Enhancing communication and collaboration at the CNRS ESYCOM laboratory

Context.

The ESYCOM laboratory, a collaboration between Gustave Eiffel University, the CNRS, and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, specializes in engineering communication systems, sensors, and microsystems. Its flagship project, “Sensors and Communicating Systems for Urban, Environmental, and Personal Applications,” focuses on three key areas: communication systems, micro-sensors, and micro-energy. The research combines technological processes, modeling, and characterization, with a strong emphasis on health sensors, biological interfaces, and ambient energy harvesting.

Challenges.

1. Creating a website to showcase laboratory research

We created an intuitive website to optimize laboratory communication and collaboration, serving as a hub for team members to share laboratory information effectively. This platform fosters clear communication, enabling team members to interact and share information seamlessly. It ensures that critical information and ongoing tasks are accessible in real-time, enhancing workflow efficiency and team culture. By using communication tools such as a centralized digital platform, the website helps to streamline processes and pave the way for advancement in research.

2. Developing infographics to improve communication and collaboration

To complement the website, we designed infographics that summarize complex laboratory data into digestible visuals. These visuals play a crucial role in promoting good communication and problem-solving within the laboratory environment. Infographics encourage data sharing and help lab managers address any issues, ensuring that research outcomes are presented in a way that fosters effective collaboration and enhances research quality.

3. Communication strategies and social media

We implemented strategies to enhance communication through targeted media outreach, ensuring that ESYCOM’s work garners the attention it deserves. By sharing laboratory services and research outcomes with external audiences, we helped team members collaborate with stakeholders and maintain open lines of communication. This approach focused on fostering an environment of trust and credibility while promoting diverse perspectives and reliable research outcomes.
